Expand Expanding CloseMan, the leaks just don’t stop. Nor, apparently, does DJI’s ability to create a stream of new products. There’s word – and a photo – today that Zoom lenses are coming for the X7 system.
Expand Expanding CloseOne of the challenges with wide angles lenses is barrel distortion. The wider a lens gets, the more distortion becomes an issue. Some lenses are specifically designed to correct this distortion. These lenses are called rectilinear lenses and they stretch the objects in the image, especially towards the edges, to make them appear straight. These kinds of lenses are also called zero-distortion lenses. Canon and Nikon make them for regular cameras and so does Venus Optics. However, Venus Optics has now created a version of their popular Laowa 9mm lens for the Zenmuse X7 camera that can be mounted on the Inspire 2. It is called the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 DL Zero-D lens.
Earlier today DJI posted a video on YouTube that shows you the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of the Amazon Prime Original series “You Are Wanted” and how DJI’s technology is used. The crew uses the DJI Inspire 2 drone with a Zenmuse X7 camera and the DJI Ronin 2 camera gimbal to achieve creative and surprising shots that otherwise would have been much more difficult to capture. The video is in German but if you activate the English subtitles it will be quite easy to follow.
If you happen to be at the Adobe MAX conference in Las Vegas and you want to have a good look at the new DJI Zenmuse X7, then today is your last chance. DJI is one of the Gold Sponsors at the 2017 Adobe MAX and they have a booth there as well, where you can see all their latest products and test fly some of their drones. So if you are at Adobe Max 2017 in Las Vegas be sure to stop by. Adobe MAX runs from October 16 to 20.
Today is the last day!
Ever since the DJI released the teaser video, rumors have been going around as to what exactly DJI might be releasing at their event tonight. Especially within the various Facebook groups, there was a lot of speculation. Some people thought it would be a GoPro Karma-killer, with a new camera, drone and gimbal all built into one. Others thought it would be just a camera perhaps. Earlier this week, we received some photos and a leaked video clip in which an Inspire Drone was shown with that new camera attached. The video clip ends with “Zenmuse X7“. Today, somebody emailed us with what seemed to be official specs and photos of the new Zenmuse X7 camera and gimbal. And of course, we shared them with you, our readers.
Are you excited for tonight’s DJI event? We’ll have live coverage here so come back at 5PM PT/8PM ET.
But…Spoiler alert: we have what we think are some images and specs of what is to be revealed. We saw a sneak peak earlier this week but this is the real deal. Only click below if you don’t mind knowing a lot about the sick new DJI Zenmuse X7 cinematic 6K camera…
