Remotely piloted drone tech and services company Skypersonic has made delivery of its specially designed and tested hardware and software package to NASA for use in a year-long simulated Mars mission.
Detroit-based drone inspection company Skypersonic has further prepared for its role in a simulated NASA Mars mission by testing its hallmark remote UAV and rover piloting system during trials on the Martian-esque terrain of Italy’s volcanic Mt. Etna.
Red Cat Holdings subsidiary Skypersonic says it has successfully completed the world’s first transcontinental drone inspection relying only on an internet connection from a normal mobile phone. A fully operational utility plant in Turin was inspected using an indoor drone controlled from Orlando, some 4,800 miles away.
After showing off what the two company’s tech is capable of when combined, Fat Shark’s parent company Red Cat Holdings has signed a letter of intent to purchase Skypersonic – an investment that would allow the company to offer a drone platform operated from anywhere in the world.
Thanks to a new partnership with Skypersonic UAV, Fat Shark has managed to fly a drone from 1,200 miles away with minimal lag. The system uses custom-developed hardware and software from Skypersonic and Fat Shark’s Shark Byte system.
