DJI today announced it is discontinuing Care Refresh+. This after-sales service plan from the company offered users an additional replacement for damaged devices while extending the official warranty coverage period of drones and handheld products.
Worried that your Mavic Mini or Mini 2 might fly away on you? Odds are it will never happen. But in the rare event it does? If you have DJI Care Refresh, you’re covered.
DJI offers two protection programs for its drones: DJI Care Refresh and DJI Care Refresh+. But what exactly is the difference between the two? And what do you get by purchasing either of them? Let’s take a closer look at the two options and see if you should take the plunge.
This doesn’t really come as a surprise, although I didn’t check for it right away when I wrote yesterday’s posts about DJI raising their prices as a result of the trade tariffs taking effect. DJI has now also raised the prices on their DJI Care Refresh packages. Apple seems to be absorbing most of the tariffs so that they don’t impact consumers in the US. So why does DJI simply pass them on to us drone enthusiasts?
What is DJI Care Refresh and why would you need it? Well, that is a good question. Have you seen any of these (here and here.) recent videos of drones crashing in the water or being damaged by water? If that was your drone and you had DJI Care Refresh, you could request a replacement. Once you buy DJI Care Refresh, you can request up to two replacements within the 12 months that your plan is valid. Doing so will require you to pay another fee at the time of request but it is still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new drone. For instance, when you buy a DJI Mavic 2, you can purchase DJI Care Refresh for an additional $139. If you happen to damage (see terms) your drone, you can request a replacement. For the Mavic 2, the first replacement would cost you $119 and the second $139. It provides you peace of mind when you’re flying and as you can imagine, DJI Care Refresh has been very popular.
Currently, DJI is running a promotion and they have reduced the price of their DJI Care Refresh program by 10%. See below for details.
