Volarious: Tether system specialist for DJI and Autel drones
Volarious is a Singapore-based tech company specializing in tethered drone systems.
Commercial, off-the-shelf drones, as you likely know, can only sustain for a limited flight time. The average flight time for some of the most popular enterprise drones today is about 40-45 minutes. This leaves drone operators no choice but to manually land the drone and change the batteries before flying it again. Interrupting the flight for this laborious and cumbersome process becomes an even bigger issue during public safety missions where every second matters. Tethered drone systems are designed to solve exactly this problem.
A tethered drone system consists of two parts: a base station and a cable. The base station component of the system harnesses power from either a portable AC generator or in-built batteries. The tether cable is attached to the base station on one end, and to the drone on the other, transmitting the power from the base station to the aircraft.
Volarious’ 24-hour systems cater to public safety, military, and private industries. Supported activities include traffic analysis, border patrol, search and rescue, disaster management, event monitoring, offshore surveillance, and construction monitoring.
