DJI would like you to “See The Bigger Picture” on July 18th – Possible Mavic Pro 2 announcement? [video]

DJI would like you to "See The Bigger Picture" on July 18th - Possible Mavic Pro 2 announcement?

Chinese drone-maker DJI just sent out an invitation to the press to come and “See The Bigger Picture” on July 18th at 10 am in New York. The invitation was sent by email and contained a top-down aerial photo that seems to show a mountainous area with trees, a river and possibly a lake in the center. Toward the outer edges of the circular image you see clouds and then it fades into black. There is no indication if this photo is from an actual location and/or how much of it may be photoshopped. The image also has a resemblance of an eye (iris and pupil), which nicely ties back into their slogan: “See The Bigger Picture”, which is superimposed over the photo. Like with previous announcements from DJI, it is hard to get much information out it, but I think it is safe to say that DJI will almost certainly be announcing a new consumer drone this summer with an emphasis on image quality. Possibly the new Mavic Pro 2 drone.

What will DJI announce at tomorrow’s event? Will it be the DJI Mavic Pro II that everybody is hoping for?

DJI Mavic Pro II

Tomorrow morning, DJI will hold an event in San Francisco to announce that ‘the world of work is changing‘. Many people have been speculating what this announcement may be about. Some have suggested new workflow software, the DJI Master Wheels, or even a new sensor size for the DJI Mavic Pro II based on the relative difference in the exact measurements of both circles in the announcement. And of course many people, we included, are hoping that DJI will, in fact, announce the new DJI Mavic Pro II at the event. Even OsitaLV, our long-term leaker, seems to be speculating that the new Mavic Pro may be announced tomorrow. However, we are not convinced and I will explain why.

Update: @DJIEnterprise will start live-tweeting the event at 11:15 PST

DJI Mavic Pro II (2) may be delayed until late spring

The latest rumor on the DJI Mavic Pro II (or DJI Mavic Pro 2) is that it may be delayed until late spring, i.e. June. That would be a disappointment for many as the previous launch date of the DJI Mavic Pro II was in three weeks from now (March 22nd). We were expecting the Mavic Pro II to be the first new drone to be released after the Mavic Air introduction. Pushing the launch date back to June opens up the possibility of another DJI product to be launched in March. The Spark 2 maybe?

The DJI Mavic Pro II (or Mavic Pro 2) is rumored to arrive late in March so it makes sense that more details are coming out as we approach that deadline. Today we learn that the original foldable drone from DJI may actually grow in size. Indeed the new DJI Mavic Pro II may become a monster drone.

DJI Mavic Pro II – all the rumored specs we have so far

Just a short post this time to summarize all the information, we have seen about the new Mavic Pro II (or Mavic Pro 2). This post contains some old rumors as well as some that have surfaced today. We wanted to make a list of all the specifications that have been rumored up till today as an easy point of reference. A lot of the information has come from a single source, but as we have seen with the launch of the Zenmuse X7, the Osmo Mobile 2 and the Mavic Air, more sources will come forward as we approach the launch date.

DJI Mavic Pro 2 rumors are starting to heat up right after the launch of the Mavic Air

It has only been two days since the introduction of the all-new DJI Mavic Air, and already we are receiving news of a possible release date of the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 as early as March 2018.

With the DJI Mavic Air offering so many improvements and new features at a lower price point than the DJI Mavic Pro, the sales of the latter must be hurting tremendously. In our view, it would make sense for the Chines drone manufacturer to release the new DJI Mavic Pro sooner rather than later.

A new DJI Mavic Pro 2 to be released in March already? That seems very soon. Would that even make sense for DJI? We think so. Read on.
