Global UAV market expected to soar to new heights in 2020s

Buckle up and screw on your hats, dronies: The currently booming market in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is set to blast into the stratosphere over the next several years.

Valued at $19.5 billion in 2019, the global market for all types of airborne drones is expected to surpass $55.6 billion by 2027, according to a new forecast by Research Dive.

Military and defense applications are projected to continue to dominate about half of total spending during that period. However, business in consumer drones is set to outpace the security side in annual rates of growth for most of the coming decade.

DJI dispels rumors about DJI fixed-wing VTOL drone

Over the last two days, photos and specs have been going around the internet of a supposedly new DJI fixed-wing VTOL drone. The information originated from two Twitter accounts, that in previous cases have provided very accurate information. This time, detailed photos of the drone showing DJI components and specs were released. All seemingly part of the new DJI fixed-wing VTOL drone. Today, however, we received a message from DJI today dispelling these rumors.

DJI’s fixed-wing VTOL drone in action plus more photos and specifications

This morning, we learned from two important sources new information about DJI’s fixed-wing VTOL drone. As you have seen there is a photo of the actual drone flying, but we now also have more detailed photos and information on the various cameras that can be used with this drone. A lot of the content in the slides below is in Chinese and we are in the process of translating that.

First photos and specs appear of DJI’s VTOL fixed-wing quadcopter drone

Just now the first photos and specs have surfaced online from what appears to be the new DJI Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL), fixed-wing quadcopter drone. As we have reported before, this drone is aimed at the agricultural and industrial markets.
