A new DJI offering has appeared online at Walmart. It’s got a new name: The MINI SE. But is it really a new drone?

As a photographer, adding a DJI Mavic Mini to my gear locker felt like a final puzzle piece. I know I’m not alone in this feeling as many of my fellow photographer friends became pilots, as well, in the last year. But this doesn’t mean that we use our flying cameras just for drone photography and videography.

The DJI Mavic Mini is one of the most popular drones on the market. Price, sub-250g weight, and relative ease-of-use are the obvious reasons for this popularity. And, there are accessories out there that will figuratively elevate this little marvel to higher heights.

Anyone who still shivers recalling The Revenant or gulag escape movie The Way Back ought to bundle up before watching filmmaker Vadim Sherbakov’s drone-shot The Noor. Even those without a sweater handy should take a gander, however­­– frostbite be damned.

As an experienced photographer, I decided to add new angles to my work. And the Mavic Mini proved to be just the tool for my first drone purchase.

We thought we’d step back for a moment and look at the rules for sub-250 gram drones. Why? Because some pilots are under the impression that none of the rules apply… and that’s not the case.

Yesterday, we wrote about an issue that’s been floating around with the Mini 2 batteries not discharging properly. Today, word from DJI that a fix is underway.

Some owners of DJI’s flagship sub-250 gram drone, the Mini 2, are reporting an issue with the its batteries. Apparently in some cases, these intelligent batteries are not discharging if left in the drone or the factory smart charger.

DJI recently announced Flyaway coverage for the DJI Mavic Air 2 and DJI Mini 2, but you must bind the drones to your account to make use of the coverage. Here’s a quick tutorial to do so, and an explanation of why you need to do it.

There is no doubt the DJI Mini 2 is an impressive drone, but we thought we’d still share some awesome videos from the community. The following four videos are what we think are perfect for showing the Mini 2’s versatility.

DJI has confirmed on Twitter that it currently has no plan to add DJI Mini 2 support to the DJI Smart Controller. The info was shared in response to a tweet from one of the biggest drone YouTubers, Aldryn Estacio, talking about a recent update to the controller.

I knew this day would come. But now that it’s here, I’ve got a sinking feeling in my gut: DJI wants me to return its loaner Mini 2.

The DJI Mini 2 has received a major update, adding new features to the drone, fixing a few issues, and improving the user experience. The new update comes shortly after DJI released a small one right before the holiday season.

It’s the last day of 2020, so we thought we’d share the drones we think stood out from the rest, putting them at the top of the list. These drones might not be the best in every way, but we think they each have aspects that make them shine in the market. Here they are in no specific order.

DJI has released its latest update for the DJI Mini 2, bringing improved flight stability and fixes a major but rare issue. The update isn’t massive but should make flying the Mini 2 a smoother process just in time for the holiday season.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a loaner Mini 2 since just before the product was released. It will be sent back to DJI soon (but hopefully not too soon). And then? I’m just going to have to buy one. Let me tell you why.

A couple of weeks ago, I tested out the Tiffen Mavic Mini filters with the DJI Mini 2, and in testing, they worked great (unofficially)! After getting in touch with Tiffen, they let me know that the filters are, in fact, compatible with the new DJI Mini 2 drone.

After a bit of testing, it appears that the Tiffen DJI Mavic Mini ND filters work with the newly released DJI Mini 2, thanks to the camera’s design being basically the same. Tiffen doesn’t currently have any filters for the DJI Mini 2, but these should work just fine anyway.
