Ehang, the Chinese firm that makes an autonomous, passenger-carrying drone, has flown the device in Beijing. It’s the first time the EH216 has flown over Beijing, which is a pretty busy airspace.

EHang is continuing to push back following a damaging – and it says false – report issued by a firm that recommended shorting the stock. The report from Wolfpack Research, which recommended shorting the stock, has tanked the company’s market cap.

Chinese VTOL company EHang has seen a 60% drop in its stock price after Wolfpack Research questioned the company and its practices. EHang has now responded to the report, with its founder Huazhi Hu answering nine key questions.

Chinese firm EHang, which is becoming very well known for its EH216 passenger-carrying drone, has news. The company has received a long-term flight permit allowing it to conduct test flights in Austria’s national airspace. In fact, it’s already carried out a flight.

Mark our words: The day will come when unmanned aircraft systems routinely shuttle passengers and goods across the skylines of our cities. What’s more, EHang is likely to be one of the companies at the forefront.

Late last month, EHang announced that it would accelerate its urban air mobility operations due to China announcing the first unmanned civil aviation experimental zones (UCAEZ) to allow EHang and other companies to test out its drones.

Chinese drone company EHang has taken to the sky in South Korea in its latest test, delivering rice before it moves on to human passengers. The test took place in the South Korean capital, Seoul, as a part of its goal to get drones flying by 2025.

Late last month, drone maker EHang showed off its latest heavy-lift autonomous drone for use in short to medium-length aerial logistics. EHang’s new 216 Logistics drone is somewhat of a scaled-down version of the company’s larger passenger drone.

EHang has begun trailing passenger sightseeing flights using its 216 unmanned drone over the coastal city of Yantai in East China. The trial flights took four passengers into the skies to demonstrate the reliability and versatility of its passenger drones.

EHang is working on using its passenger drones to deliver heavy air cargo after it received the go-ahead from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). EHang will be trailing the concept until enough data is collected to understand if the drones can be used in a larger area.

Chinese Ehang, a name you may recognize from their flying taxi, just broke the Guinness World Record record for largest drone display with a fleet of 1,374 drones at a Labour Day show in Xi’an, breaking Intel’s previous record of 1,218 drones flown during the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. During the first rehearsal flight, all went well and Ehang was able to secure the record, however, during the live performance on May 1st signal interference from the audience may have caused some drones to break formation and some even fell out of the sky.

Only two years ago at CES in Las Vegas, Ehang promised to deliver an autonomous, passenger-carrying taxi-drone and in a video released by Ehang today, it shows that they have. Over the last couple of months, Ehang has conducted over 1,000 test flights with human passengers on board. In the video below they even show how they send their company officials for a test flight in the Ehang 184.
