The Commercial Drone Alliance (CDA) and the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), both prominent organizations in the commercial drone industry, have jointly issued a guidance document to help drone operators stay compliant with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) remote ID rule.

In an effort to fly two major event kites from the same string – and encourage comingling of aerial activities at their heart – the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) are pairing up to host twinned drone and advanced air mobility (AAM) conferences next month at the same time and venue.

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI) has announced the finalists for the sixth annual AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards. While industry recognitions are often considered important as brag tags, these awards are an especially big deal for the drone industry because AUVSI represents corporations and professionals from more than 60 countries involved in industry, government, and academia.

Mississippi governor Tate Reeves has signed the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems’ Rights and Authorities Act into law, which codifies that the ultimate authority over the state airspace lies with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This law is crucial because it prevents additional burdensome regulations for drone operators. At the same time, it clarifies that violations of property-based legal regimes, such as trespass, do not occur when a drone simply flies overhead.

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has unveiled Green UAS, a new cybersecurity and supply chain risk assessment program for commercial drones. The program’s framework closely mirrors the Pentagon tech hub Defense Innovation Unit’s Blue UAS model. But it is aimed at those government and nongovernment users who do not immediately require Department of Defense (DoD) authority to operate commercial drones.

If you’re a regular reader of DroneDJ, you likely know there are numerous benefits that drones can bring to governments, enterprises, and communities alike. But as is the case with any evolving technology, not every state or city is fully prepared to leverage it. One organization that’s making sure that the US is not left behind is AUVSI.

AUVSI, the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of uncrewed systems, autonomy, and robotics, says it’s willing to take the fight to state legislative sessions to stop all proposals that infringe on the FAA’s authority of the airspace, promote the creation of drone toll lanes, and seek to impose undue taxes on drone operations.

To discuss all things drone, the 2022 FAA Drone Symposium has been scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The in-person event will be co-hosted by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) during the XPONENTIAL 2022 conference.

Joining the push to make the drone community more gender-inclusive, AUVSI – the leading trade association for autonomy, robotics, and automated air, ground, and maritime vehicle industries – is rebranding itself as the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has announced new additions to its advocacy staff. Well, after more than a year where it seemed pretty much every conference was virtual, here’s a sign things are starting to return to normal: AUVSI is going ahead with an in person XPONENTIAL drone conference later this month.

Organizers of XPONENTIAL 2021 have revealed the speakers lineup for its virtual session in May, ahead of the resumed in-person conference in August.

AUVSI president and CEO Brian Wynne recently sat down virtually with Drone Racing League (DRL) COO Ashley Ellefson to discuss drone racing and adapting to COVID-19. The two discuss how DRL has been able to keep on its promise of drone racing from a virtual setting and allowing fans to bet on the sport from home.

The largest organization representing unmanned vehicles – AUVSI – has announced a “hybrid” XPONENTIAL gathering for 2021. Part of it will take place virtually in May, with the balance of a real, live event in August. Let’s hope.

This week is National Drone Safety Awareness Week (NDSAW), and AUVSI has once again sponsored the event. The event runs from November 16-22 with various daily virtual events for you to take part in.

FIRST iZ has won a second-place AUVSI XCELLENCE award in the technology and innovation category for its FirstPort drone-in-a-box solution. The winners of the AUVSI XCELLENCE awards were announced during the awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 6.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced that AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020 will be online only this year due to COVID-19. This year’s fully interactive event will go from October 5-8.

The FAA 2020 UAS Symposium is back with a little twist due to COVID-19. The FAA 2020 UAS Symposium: Remotely Piloted Edition will now be fully online with a two-episode schedule taking place at the end of July and mid-August.
