Welcome back to the series, where I learn to fly FPV drones for the first time. In this part, I’ll be moving to the real world and learning to fly a whoop for the first time. Previously, I took flight in the DRL SIM, learning all of the basic flight controls.

I’ll say this because I know it: Starting out in FPV isn’t the easiest thing in the world — especially if you have stick time with a really stable platform like the DJI products. Those drones almost fly themselves and don’t require constant input to maintain flight. FPV, therefore, comes with a very steep learning curve. But how best to get started?

A new sub-250 gram CineWhoop drone designed by US startup Beagle Drones has been delayed for its Kickstarter launch. The “Nova” was supposed to be launch on October 27, but scheduling at Kickstarter has pushed it back until November 3.

Why do we call these guys “Awesome?” Because we’re big fans of the Beagle Drones business model, which we’ll explore later in the story. After NURK first flew a RED cinema camera on an FPV drone a few months ago, YouTuber Potato Jet has wanted to get NURK to fly his own RED camera, and the video is finally here.

It’s a great video, and it led to us having an interview with the founder.

On July 23rd, the FCC hit HobbyKing with a fine of $2,861,128 for selling video transmitters used on FPV drones that do not comply with the FCC’s rules. The FFC found dozens of the video transmitters sold by HobbyKing to be operating on unauthorized frequencies.
