The Drone Racing League has announced its latest venture, the DRL Academy, a STEM program for students studying science, engineering, and unmanned aircraft technology. DRL has also partnered with various education groups to integrate the DRL Academy into school curriculums as quickly as possible.

A 9th grader in Williamsville, New York, created a new app that might help save lives. Vidya Shah, 14, developed the award-winning HoverOver app that can help first responders identify people who might be in danger.
Students fly high in a new drone club at Newton High School in Kansas. It developed out of an interest to get a new class started in the career and technical education program. The drone club was officially started in the fall of last year.

DJI partners with Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy to help future architects and engineers. Mostly the DJI Inspire 2 and Phantom 4 Pro are being used during this drone course because of their mapping abilities. Since drones have become more popular, we have seen many universities and colleges around the world launch drone courses, including one in Florida. DJI released a video of the Italian university in their latest ‘DJI Stories’ series on YouTube.

An Italian Drone Academy uses a dramatic video of a very serious staged drone accident to underscore the importance of drone education for pilots of all skill levels. We already know that improved education has helped to reduce the relative growth of drone incidents in Germany. The academy has created this video to drive home that point.

An estimated 10 million drones will be sold globally this year. About 3 million of them will be sold here in the US and among the new drone pilots are many young people. Schools and colleges have taken notice and have started different drone programs and classes.
