Drones are often called “flying cameras,” and many drone operators consider themselves to be photographers. Now an arbitrator in a Hollywood labor dispute has agreed, granting drone photographers on a TV show the same rights as other photography professionals.
The PBS Nature series Spy in the Wild is capturing some amazing closeups of wildlife as you’ve never seen it before. For an upcoming episode, it used a drone disguised as a hummingbird to film a 500-million butterfly swarm in Mexico.

Drone videos of the recent tornados that swept through the south-eastern United States show the sheer power and destruction of the storm. David Waltermyer captured the footage in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The US can’t catch a break this spring. As casualties from the deadly COVID-19 begin to peak in some parts of the country, deadly storms are ravaging other regions. Over the weekend, storms triggered at least 34 tornadoes in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia—leaving at least 18 people dead.

A drone video shows the partially burning remains of what used to be a Jim Beam warehouse filled with 45,000 barrels of bourbon at its distillery in Woodford County, Kentucky. The massive fire occurred on Wednesday. It was so hot that it melted the lights on the fire trucks, first responders said.
Storm chaser, Brandon Clement from WxChasing captures a tornado with his drone. The tornado touched down near Sulphur in Oklahoma. Brendan was able to follow the tornado at a pretty close distance and capture this amazing footage of the storm making its path through a rural area. Check out the 4-minute 4k video below.
We have seen more crazy drone footage including swimmers and wildlife (sharks mostly), but I think this video may top them all. In this drone video, you will see how killer whales join a woman during her swim workout off the coast of Coromandel, New Zealand. Initially, the woman swam straight to the shore and got out of the water, but then she decided to go back in and complete her swim. A tourist captured the event with his drone.
Cameras mounted on FPV racing drones are quickly becoming the way to bring viewers close to the action. Over the last twelve months, we have seen many examples of jaw-dropping drone video footage of skiers, mountain bikers, rhinos, and cars drifting that was captured with a racing drone and an action camera, such as a GoPro Hero 7. This video, Drift Hard, is the latest example of how amazing such footage can be. Jump right in.
Take a look at this drone video that was taken last weekend during the RC44 World Championship 2018 in Cascais, Portugal. The race took place on September 30th at the ‘Clube Naval de Cascais‘. The RC44’s are very fast sailboats. Throw in 20 knots of wind and some current and this is what happened. Luckily a drone was in the air to capture the spectacle.
As Florence, a Category 4 hurricane is making its way toward the US East coast, Robbie Bischoff took his drone out last evening to record the deserted town of Myrtle Beach, SC. The video shows many dark and boarded-up buildings. When watching the video you will also notice that there are hardly any cars on the streets anymore. It seems that most people have left the beach town in search of a safer place to stay.

One comes across a lot of compelling drone videos online, including some truly dramatic footage of real life-and-death emergency responses saving lives – leaving viewers marveling at the odds of the vehicle being in the right place at the right time to document it all. The current imagery turning heads that way is a drone video capturing the life-saving rescue of the very same drone shooting the action – which, for once, was anything but coincidental.

Robert Capa famously said that: “If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” It seems that the same holds true for drone photography and videography. Check out this video that was shared on Facebook a few days ago. It shows a huge Marlin fighting for its freedom and the action is being captured by a DJI Phantom drone. The drone pilot flies the aircraft so close to the action that the footage is simply spectacular.
Immediately after the G7 meeting in Canada, president Trump flew to Singapore where he arrived yesterday for what some newspapers call a historic meeting between the US and North Korea, also referred to as the Trump-Kim Singapore Summit. This short drone video shows us the Capella Resort on Sentosa Island where the actual meeting will take place.
This morning we showed you the latest two drone videos that captured the almost completed new headquarters of Apple, called Apple Park. Later today we were able to conduct a short interview with one of the video makers, Matthew Roberts, who has been documenting the construction since March 2016.
The Fuego eruption has reportedly been the most violent in more than a century in Guatemala, killing at least 25 people, and injuring many more. The eruption took place on Sunday and lasted for more than 16 hours. The pyroclastic flows, fast-moving clouds of very hot gas, mud, rocks and volcanic matter, rushed down the mountain and engulfed entire villages as you can see in the drone video below.
The footage is simply amazing. Robert McIntosh shot this short film ‘Muscle-Up’ all in one take with the “world’s smallest HD drone.” His video recently made the news again when it was announced that this short film won in two categories, ‘Made in LA’ and ‘Best in Show’, at the Los Angeles Drone Film Festival in December. According to a friend McIntosh received a $23,000 drone for the prize.
A drone video was posted on YouTube recently showing the SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launch vehicle that has been moved to the launch pad at Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A), Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
The payload for this maiden flight will be Elon Musk’s own first-generation Tesla Roadster as he announced earlier this month on Twitter. Elon Musk owns more companies besides Tesla, SpaceX is one of them. SpaceX is best known for its mission to colonize Mars as has been publicly announced by Elon on several occasions.
